“PAWS WITH LOVE TO SHARE” Therapeutic Paws of Canada is very proud to include cats in their visitation program. There are many seniors that lived with a cat most of their life and sadly had to part with their treasured friend when they relocated to an assisted living facility. Many residents frequently asked if TPOC could bring in a cat.
Each cat and handler that participate in the therapy cat visitation program must successfully complete an Evaluation. The Therapy Cat Evaluation was designed and developed by an experienced group of TPOC cat lovers. The Evaluation is fair and it will quickly determine if the cat is friendly with strangers, possesses the temperament to be held and petted by people other than their owner and is comfortable in strange locations. The cats must be comfortable walking on a leash and harness and traveling in a crate. All TPOC cats have been vaccinated.
To ensure the highest level of safety and security for those we visit, all handlers must present three references which are verified prior to visiting. They must also submit to a police records search and participate in monitored visits.
